Treadmill:  30 minutes, 2.7 miles
Free weights:  8 lb weights, bench press 3x12, biceps 3x12, triceps 3x12, lawn mower pull 3x12

Kids went to the playland at the gym, they loved it and didn't want to leave.  I had a worry free leisurely workout.  Fantastic!

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Let it be known that I have not died.  Let it also be known that I have not worked out in 2.5 months until tonight.
There are many reasons why: death in the family, unemployment, search for new employment, wedding, moving, business travel, running a thriving but still start-up business, etc.  What is all boils down is one thing, prioritizing.  I realized that I had to gain some perspective in my life, exercise was way too far up on the priority list and my family was under it.  So....I was forced to take a good hard look and settle down.  My mind kept telling me I was lazy, especially in the beginning.  ALL DAY LONG, I would beat myself up and say that I was being lazy.  Eventually, that voice went away and I just felt peace.

My new goal is this, workout with my family to be healthy and happy.  That is all.

That being said, when I get a workout in (with my family!) I am definitely going to document it.  I guess I am just narcissistic that way.  Tonight Nick and I went to our new gym and enjoyed the cardio cinema.  I ran/walked 2 miles while Nick ellipticalled next to me.  We enjoyed part of "War of the Worlds" and I only almost fell off my treadmill one time, and only accidentally pulled the emergency cord twice.  FYI, that cord is a really abrupt stop.  I don't recommend pulling it.  Cardio cinema rocks!  The alien chasing stuff made me want to run faster and a couple of times I outran my treadmill speed.  Then I died a little because, man I am out of shape!

Afterward we went to do some arms and chest stuff.  I basically can barely bench press the bar, so that is awesome.  But there is nowhere to go but up!

Today's Workout: 3.2 miles , 28:15 minutes

So...I figured out what my problem is.  I ran outside this morning and I remembered every reason why I LOVE to run!  Greeting the morning, watching the sunrise, breathing that delightful morning air.  It is all so fantastic and I didn't realize how much I had missed it.  I ran the fastest 5k time ever, and I am feeling great about it.  So...it's outside for me as much as possible.  Hooray!

Tuesday, April 12th. 2011

Today's Workout, 2.10 miles in 21 minutes.

Nothing much to say.  I ran today, so that is that.  I had a burst of energy afterward so I got a lot of cleaning done and organizing around the house.  However, my hair is getting really thin, so thin that my hairdresser pointed it out.  It worries me a little that I might need an old lady haircut, you know really short.  I feel tired a lot, I am not sure what is going on.  But today, well today I ran!

Wednesday, April 6th 2011

Today's Workout: 2.19 miles, 25:03 minutes, 273 calories burned
Plus...3x12 chair steps and 3x12 pulses, each leg.  3x12 pushups, and some squats.

So...Nick is sick and at home today.  I took advantage of that situation and slept in, then when the boys woke up I got them all fed and situated with a movie and then did my workout.  Nick was keeping an ear open for any fights or emergencies.  It is a beautiful thing, working out in sunlight!  It makes me happy and running makes me happy. I am just so tired lately I can't seem to get up early to do it.

WHAT!  It's my 100th day of running!  That is cool!

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

It was the ides of March.  There is no other explanation for my complete absence from running these past three weeks.  I just didn't want to, couldn't wake up, and felt horrible every single day.  Well, I'm back!

Today's Run: 2.0 miles in 20:14 minutes

It's basically like starting from scratch, but Nick assures me that if I am consistant that I should bounce back quickly.  I forgot how much better I feel when I get up and get moving in the morning.  I think that I am going to have to fight myself every day for a little while to do it, but eventually I will get back into my habit!

Next run: Ward 5k, April ....something.  I would like to beat my last 5k time of 29 minutes.  My goal is going to be 28:28.  Here we go!

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Today's Goal: 6 miles

Today's Workout: 3.2 miles in 33 minutes

Today was a nice morning, so after my run I decided to run around the street at a sprint.  Sort of to test the waters of the outdoor run.  Man!  Treadmill running is so much different than outdoor running!  I have a lot of work to do.

Today's Goal: 3 miles in 11:24

Today's Workout: 3 miles, 38 minutes (13 minute mile)

I worked out with T today, a lot of talking happened.  I've had a cold for the past few days thought so I needed to do something.  6 miles tomorrow!

Monday, March 7, 2011

Easy Run: 4 miles @ 11:24

Today's Workout: 4 miles in 10:30 (35 minutes)

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

Today's Goal: 6 miles in 11:24 each

Today's Workout: 6 miles, in 62 minutes (10.33 per mile)

Long run, but it felt good.

Thursday, March 3rd, 2010

Today's Goal: Easy Run, 3 miles at 11:24 per mile
Today's Workout: 3 miles in 30 minutes, 10 minutes per mile

I had to hurry today, I slept in and still wanted to get a run in before N left for work.  Basically I had a time crunch and it helped me run faster than I needed too.  This is totally how I work, I love a deadline and I work well under pressure, even when it is self created.  Some call it procrastination, I call it motivation.  I think I might do this more often...

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Today's Goal: 4 miles, including 2 miles @ 9:41, cool down
Today's Workout: 4 miles in 41:40 minutes, 503 calories

The details: I ran for 1 mile at 5.5 pace, roughly 11:00 min. mile. Then I ran at 6.5 for another mile, then varied between 5 and 5.5 for 1/2 mile and then another mile at 6.5, Last 1/2 mile was all the way from 7.0 down to 5.0.

I am not running the Salt Lake Half, it is just too dang expensive.  75 dollars, that is a lot of money and I just couldn't justify the cost.  That is what I spend per week on groceries!  Anyway, I am still training as if I were running and I am thinking of doing my own personal half marathon that morning.  If the weather is good, that is my plan.  Anyone out there care to join me?

Friday, February 25th 2011

Today's Goal: 3 miles at 11:24 per mile
Today's workout: 3 miles on the elliptical, 25 minutes total

So, there is another runner in the neighborhood.  She beat me to the treadmill this morning.  Sad.
I also did three sets of 9 pushups, guy pushups.

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Today's Goal: Rest or xtrain
Today's Workout:  30 minutes on the elliptical, 3.01 miles

I have been eating tons and tons of carbs lately.  I have stopped tracking my calories on my fitness pal and apparently that gave me a license to eat like a pig all the time.  It's no good.  I am going to do better today.

Monday, February 21st, 2011

Today's Goal: Easy Run, 3 miles @11:24
Today's Workout: 2.54 miles in 34:39

Today was a bad day, there is a bunch of stuff going on with my family and I read about a million texts from various sisters on the way to the gym.  Needless to say I walked the first 1 minutes of my workout, so that is why my time is so long.  I had to leave early too because I had an appt. that I had to get ready for.

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

Today's Goal: :  Long Run, 6 miles @ 11:27
Today's Workout: 2.04 miles in 21:55 on elliptical, 2.09 on bicycle in 10 minutes, 1 mile on treadmill in 9:08

Well, I just couldn't bring myself to run 6 miles today.  It's trouble, I've kind of lost my motivation again.  Anyway, I went to the gym and I did something.  I felt guilty at the end so I tried to run a fast mile.  I sort of did.

Friday, February 18, 2011

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Ran on the treadmill at the hotel today.  2.5 miles in 25 minutes or something like that.  I forgot to keep track but I just wanted to report that I did something.  Plus, we walked the entire Las Vegas strip and back.  That's a lot of walking!

Friday, February 18th, 2011

Today's Goal: Rest or Xtrain
Today's Workout: 30 minutes, 3.0 miles on the elliptical.

Nothing new to report here, except I have been a slacker in most ways imaginable.  I haven't run since Tuesday morning and have been eating crap. Lots of crap.  Needless to say I have not logged into my fitness pal all week, I don't want to see how many pounds I am going to gain if I keep this up.  Really.

Running 5 miles tomorrow!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Monday, February 14th, 2010

Today's Goal: 6 miles @ 11:27
Today's Workout: (Coming to you direct from Vegas) 5 miles in 55 minutes (11 min per mile)

Two things:  My feet were really sore from walking all over Vegas the night before, but still I would have run 6 miles I just failed to look at my workout goal before I hit the gym and I thought that I was only supposed to run 5 miles.

They have awesome treadmills here!  They have TV's attached to each one and you are in control of what you watch on them.  I watched the price is right, and Drew Carey has totally had hair plugs or something, he suddenly has a ton of hair.  Anyway, I had a great run, the only thing was that I had to get used to the bouncing screen as it is so much closer than the TV at the clubhouse.  I was going up and down from running so I had to acclimate to focusing on the screen like that.

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Today's Goal: Rest or X train

Today's Workout: Elliptical machine, 3.38 miles in 30 minutes, burning 284 calories.
Plus...Chair Steps, 3x15 each leg, plus 3x15 pulses each leg and pushups, 3x8

I have started keeping track of calories because I am now trying to be award of how many calories I consume in a day plus the amount that I burn off.  Now that I am 30 I can feel that my metabolism is slowing so I need to teach myself how to not over-consume, which is something that I have done pretty much my entire life.  There is a website called myfitnesspal.com, it's free, it helps you track your calories and exercise water consumption. Then at the end of the day when you complete you entry, it tells you based on your caloric intake what your body will do if you continue on that way.   The first day I ate like I normally do and then at the end of the day had consumed something like 2800 calories, and it approximated that  if I did that every day I would gain 9 pounds in 5 weeks.  Wow.  Well I guess I need to pay attention.
It makes me wonder exactly how those twin brothers on the biggest looser gained 9 lbs in ONE week though, especially at the rate they exercise on that show.  They definitely rigged it somehow.
Anyway, I like being more conscious about what I put into my body. I would like to loose 10'ish pounds so I'm hoping that the law of the harvest works out for me, consume less than I am burning.  Or consume less than my body will gain weight at rather. Oh, and I also give myself Sunday's off of keeping track.

Today's Goal 4 mi, inc. warm up; 2x1600 in 9:18 (1600 is just shy of 1 mile) w/800 jogs (1/2 mile); cool down

Today's Workout:  4 miles in 47:15
Details: Walked for first .3 miles, then speed 5.5 (jog) until .75
              Speed 6.5 (9:13 per mile) from .75 to 1.75
              Speed 5.5 jogging from 1.75 until 2.25
              Speed 6.5 (9:13 per mile) from 2.25 until 3.25
Speed 7.2 all the way down to walking at 3.5 for the last .75

I wanted to blow up the treadmill today, and my hamstrings were killing me.  Darn you Jillian!

I completed my goal though.

Today's Goal: Rest or XTrain

Today's Workout: Jillian Michaels fat burning cardio - 50 minutes long including warmup and cool down

This video is a circuit training kind of workout, I really like it because it changes a lot, and I've done it enough times to know what to expect.  I really hate the floor work though, I am really lacking in this area apparently and I can never do as many reps as I am supposed to .  Plus my heart is beating in my head and I'm so sweaty, I wish the floor work was at the beginning or closer to the beginning.  Also, jumping jacks...if I were to do them I would pee my pants, so I modify with side steps and arms, no jumping.

Monday, February 7th, 2011

Today's Goal: Easy Run 5 miles @ 11:27 (I love how they use the term easy run.  Sure, easy run)

Today's Workout: 5 miles in 54:26 (11:26 per mile) 621 calories burned

Well, I came in just under my goal.  I did a lot of walking today, basically I ran for as long as I could stand it than let myself walk for 1 minute.  I also tried to push my speed a lot just for kicks and giggles.  So I guess you could say I did some speed work?  Maybe?  I must admit I really don't know what that term means, it might be something cryptic or it could mean exactly what it sounds like it should.

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Today's Goal: 5 miles @ 11:31

Today's Workout: 5 miles in 53:28 (10:42 per mile)

Unfortunately I realized that I have always been calculating my minute per mile wrong.  Math was never my subject.

Fortunately, I have fixed it and from here on out I am going to have an accurate average of my running time.  Also, it is not really a problem on a treadmill because the dang thing tells you how fast your mile is based on your speed level.  It's just those outdoor runs that are inaccurate...

So far February is off to a weak start, I was lazy all week.  But I made up for it with a good run today, and I beat the crap out of my goal which always feels good.

Monday, January 31, 2011

Monday, January 31, 2011

Today's Goal: Easy Run, 4 miles @ 11:31

Today's Workout: Elliptical, 2 miles @ 16:27, level 4
                             Treadmill, 2 miles @ 23 minutes

GRRR!  I have a neighbor who also runs in the mornings and we always try to beat each other to get to the treadmill first.  Today he won, which is why I started on the Elliptical.  Booo. I'll beat him on Wednesday!

In between the elliptical and treadmill I did some chair stepping, 3x15 steps, 3x15 pulses on each leg.  I also did 3x7 man push-ups today.  I'm not quite all the way nose to the ground, but getting better and closer.

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

Today's Goal: 3 miles@  11:31

Today's Workout: 3.2 miles in 35:16 (11:20 per mile) 399 calories

Push ups 3x6
Some good stretching.

Friday, January 28, 2011

Nothing to report here.  I was supposed to run 3 miles yesterday and I didn't because I have been working every night till 1:30.
I am planning on running tomorrow morning though.

In other new: Nick informed me that I am not doing push-ups correctly and says that I need to go lower and try to touch my nose to the ground.  Yeah, right.  I might be able to do one like that.

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

Today's Goal: 4 miles @ 11:31

Step up on folding chair 3x15 for each leg
Pulses on Top of chair, 3x15 for each leg
Pushups 3x16

Today I was hogging the treadmill and there were a bunch of people in the gym, so I only ran 2 miles and then I did my leg work.  man it was tough!  AfterI finished, the treadmill was still unoccupied so I jumped back on and did another mile pretty fast, it was a little over a 9 minute mile.  My legs were like jello but it felt good to just sweat like crazy.  Stinky and sweaty but it felt good!

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Today's Goal:Long Run, 5 miles @ 11:33

Today's Workout: 5 minutes on recumbent bicycle
Elliptical Machine, 20 minutes, 2.24 miles
Ran: 2 miles in 20 minutes

Well, I was supposed to run 5 miles, but when I got there someone was WALKING on the treadmill.  For like 25 minutes.  So I improvised and did something until I could get on that treadmill.  Then I had to leave because the day must go on after all.  Oh well.

Friday, January 21, 2011

Today's Workout: 5 minute warm-up on recumbent bicycle

I also did 3 REAL push-ups and some stretching.  I need to be better about stretching, it felt so good and my muscles were way too tight!

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Wednesday, January 19th, 2010

Today's Goal: Temp Run, 4 miles including Warm-up; 2 miles @ 9:50; Cool Down

Distance Ran: 4 miles
Mile 1 at level 5.5
Miles 2 and 3 at 6.3 (these two miles at 9:40 per mile)
Mile 4 at 5.5 and cool down at 4 last 4 minutes

Total Workout time: 44.56
Incline Level: 1 and 1.5 varying
Calories Burned: 475

Today after I ran I thought I would see how many REAL push-ups I can do.  The answer is 3 and that last one was borderline.  I certainly am not getting my nose down to the ground on any of them, but only about halfway there.  I am going to do 3 every day for one week, then add one more and do 4 every day for one week.  So on and so forth until I can do 50 pushups in one sitting.   Fun!

Monday, January 17, 2011

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

Today's Goal: 3 miles @ 11:33

Distance Ran: 2.7 miles
Time of Run: 28:36 (10 min 50 sec miles)

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Today's Goal: 4 miles @ 11:34

Distance Ran: 4 miles
Time of Run: 44:06 (11 minute miles)
Other info: Level 1, 509 calories, walked 2 minutes to warm-up, 5.5 speed for most of it, last 8 minutes were between level 6 and 7.

It was hard today, that's all.  I really need to get to costco and get some more yogurt because I need to eat before these runs and that is the only thing that sits well in my stomach.

Tomorrow!

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Training Goal: Rest or XT
Distance Cycled: 4.41 miles
Time of workout: 20 minutes

Hams and Quads at 3, 3x12 and bi's and tri's at 4, 3x12

I really need a new weight routine, but first I need to purchase some 10 lb free weights.  Once I do that I will add squats and lunges and then some free weights for my upper body.  I probably should do something about an ab workout, but blah.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Monday, January 9th, 2011

Today's Goal: 4 miles @ 11:34

Distance Ran: 3.01 in 33:45 (11:12 per mile)
Distance Ellipticalled: 1.12 in 12:10 (10:80 per mile)

So yeah, I was supposed to RUN a total of 4 miles, but when we got to the gym there was another neighbor using the treadmill.  So I improvised and used the elliptical at level 3 until he was done.  It wasn't the same, but better than nothing.  I would have still ran 4 miles, but I had a time frame to fit into so that N could get to work on time.

I am trying something new, N and I are waking up at 6:00 (more like 6:10 today but we'll try harder) and I am starting my day with prayer and scripture study.  N comes downstairs and works out to Kung Fu Live, a game on our playstation 3 move.  It's fun and it is totally a good workout!  Then I head to the gym at 6:30 with T and N get's ready for work.  It was nice, I like starting my day this way.  The key of course is to go to bed early.  Last night that wasn't a problem, but on the nights I work until midnight, well we will just have to see how that works out.  Realistically though, it is only 30 minutes earlier than we usually wake up, so we should be good.  Sleeping in on Sunday now that we have late church will help me catch up, and N get's to sleep in on Saturday's till about 9:00.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Saturday, January 8th, 2011

They say unless you write a goal on paper it is nothing more than a wish.  Writing it down makes it real.  Well this for me is very true, especially when it comes to running!  I have 16 weeks to prepare for the Salt Lake 1/2 marathon on April 16th.  So I got onto Runners World, signed up for a free account, and set up a training log that will help me be ready.

Today's goal was to run 5 miles @ 11:34 each mile.

Distance I ran: 5 miles
Time of Run: 55:31 minutes (11:06 per mile)
Incline on treadmill: Started at 1, played around with 1.5 and 2.0 and ended at 1.0
(Remember anything less than 1.0 is like running downhill, so at least 1.0 for me!)

I watched "Father of the Bride" on TV and it made the time go faster. Plus I have my new shuffle stocked with tons of trashy clubbin' music.  Thanks for the playlist Candy Sue!
I also learned something about myself and the treadmill:  basically I run minute by minute.  It sounds pathetic really, but I hate the treadmill so much, that I just tell myself that I can get through this minute than so on and so on until I have ran the distance I have set as my goal. Yes, I did this for 55 minutes yesterday.  But guess what, I hit my goal distance, and beat the goal time that I was supposed to run in!

Things I like about the treadmill: I can track how much distance I have gone exactly (this is good and bad, most of the time I cover it up but it's nice to check your progress.)
Also, I can keep my water right there, so I can take small water breaks at every 15 minutes (may not be good for training, but better than not running at all I say!)
Third, there is a bathroom nearby, so I can go and empty all the water I have been consuming and pause my machine.  This is better than going in the bushes, right?

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Wednesday, January 5th, 2011

Distance Ellipticalled: 3.0 miles
Time of workout: 30 minutes
Weights lifted: Bi and Tri's 3x12 b=4, t=3

T and I worked out 45 minutes earlier than we normally do today because I had to get my day started earlier.  Man that sucked getting out of bed!

In other news I really wish it was spring already, or even better SUMMER!

Monday, January 3, 2011

Monday, January 3rd, 2011

Distance Ran: 3.06 miles
Time of Run: 34.55 minutes
Treadmill set at 1.5 and 2.0 incline

Slow slow slow.  I'm finally feeling like I can run though with out coughing up a lung though and that is a good thing!
